MCSMITH OCHENDO COMMENDS LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT.....

Nollywood Actor high chief Mcsmith Ochendo has commended the Lagos state government for revisiting the murder case of embattled actress Ibinabo Fiberesima. In a statement the comic actor said “The Judiciary has always been the hope of the common man. I have been praying fervently for a day like this and I congratulate the Lagos state government. Those miscreants who go about misinforming the public and interpreting the laws of our land upside down should now bury their heads in shame. This is purely a legal matter and not some slapstick comedy. The AGN National PR said. Speaking further, Ochendo said “Justice must prevail and I see light at the end of the tunnel. Ibinabo Fiberesima is a candidate of the gallows who has a foot in prison.”
The embattled actress was sentenced to five years imprisonment by Justice Deborah Oluwayemi for reckless driving which caused the death of Dr. Giwa Suraj, a US trained doctor in an auto accident along the Lekki-Epe expressway, Lagos. Ibinabo was said to be drunk. The deceased was a staff of one of the Lagos state’s hospitals.
At the hearing of the appeal, the appellate court presided over by Justice Ndukwe-Anyanwu (Mrs.) reserved judgement in the appeal after counsel adopted their written addresses.
The court also directed that Fiberesima who was not in court should be present when judgement is to be delivered, adding that the date of judgment would be communicated to the parties.
Counsel to Lagos State Government, Rotimi Odutola (Mrs.) had argued that the law creating the offence of dangerous driving causing death has provided for a term of imprisonment as punishment for anyone convicted under section 28.
Odutola further submitted that the children of doctor Suraj Giwa have been permanently deprived of the ‘’measureless contributions’’ of their father to their lives as a result of his death caused by Ibinabo.
She urged the court to uphold the judgement of the Lagos High Court.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command had in 2005 charged the ex-beauty queen (Ibinabo Fiberesima) to the Magistrate Court on a two-count charge of dangerous and reckless driving along Epe Expressway, Lagos which resulted to the death of Dr. Giwa Suraj.
In his judgment, Magistrate O.A Isaacs, found Fiberesima guilty on the two-count charge, sentenced her to seven years imprisonment which she has not served.

Uneasy Calm In Nollywood As Appeal Court Reserves Judgment In Ibinabo’s Murder Case

Story By Sahara E-news

There have been uneasy calm in Nollywood as a Lagos appeal court reserved judgement in a suit between Ibinabo Fiberesima and the Lagos State government.

Speaking to judicial correspondence, comic actor, high Chief Mcsmith Ochendo said “The Judiciary has always been the hope of the common man. I have been praying fervently for a day like this and I congratulate the Lagos state government. Those miscreants who go about misinforming the public and interpreting the laws of our land upside down should now bury their heads in shame. This is purely a legal matter and not some slapstick comedy. The AGN National PR said.

Speaking further, the veteran actor said “Justice must prevail and I see light at the end of the tunnel. Ibinabo Fiberesima is a candidate of the gallows who has a foot in prison.” Ochendo posited.

Also speaking, a close ally of Ibinabo, Empress Ene said that she believes that the government should tender justice with mercy considering Ibinabo’s contribution to Nollywood. “ We are in prayers for her for God to intervene in this matter because we are not happy at all” Empress said.

On his part, Nollywood actor, henry oseiwenge said that he suspects fowl play in the way the case suddenly resurrected “I think the APC government in lagos is trying to be vindictive because of the role my boss Ibinabo Fiberesima play during the last presidential election, you know she mobilized the whole of Nollywodd to campaign for president Goodluck Jonathan in all the 36 states and she has never hidden her support for Goodluck Jonathan. I pray she is vindicated at last” Oseiwenge said.

In a post, Nollywood star actor and president of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Ike who have had a long legal battle with Ibinabo said “This is lesson for everyone that no matter how long it takes, the law will certainly catch up with offenders.

This is a woman who was convicted in a case of man-slaughter between her and the government of Lagos State a few years back where she caused the death of Dr Suraj Giwa, a US trained doctor and was sentenced to 5 years imprison. She refused to serve the jail term and she has not even shown any remorse because she thinks she can pay 100,000 as compensation for the dead. And this is a woman that wants to lead the creative Industry in Nigeria.

Do you know that On march 16, 2015, a federal high presided over by Justice James tsoho in a landmark Judgement sacked Ibinabo Fiberesima as president of Actors Guild of Nigeria, yet Ibinabo described the Judgment as a kangaroo and an arrangement by the APC Government to remove her from office because of her support for President Goodluck Jonathan in the last election, what insolence. Instead she is boasting of her connection in high places terrorizing and using the police to harass and intimidate perceived enemies in Nollywood. The era of impunity is over in this country”. Emeka Ike said.
