FROM THEDESK OF THE CHAIRMAN.....

FROM THE CHAIRMAN’S DESK:

 Don Pedro Aganbi,

Chairman, AGN Lagos Chapter.

The future we envision, the future we will build together, it is not just for one individual; it is for all AGN Lagos members. And that future is a future of change. Our noble Guild longs for change and AGN Lagos under the leadership of Don Pedro Aganbi is committed to leading a Movement for Change. If our values and our principles are shared it will be easy to work together to implement our roadmap for Change.Look around AGN today from state to state in our country, what has division brought us? Has it brought us peace? Has it brought us prosperity? Has it brought the future we've wanted for our noble Guild.

No, it hasn't.
We must come together. We must work together. We must live in peace together. We must choose progress. But systematically and transparently – we want you to know what we stand for, we want people to know about the change and innovations we are offering; we want people to join us in building AGN Lagos chapter. A Guild of progress, a Guild of hope, a Guild of opportunity. The AGN of our dreams is only possible through focus, inspired and visionary leadership and this is what Don Pedro Aganbi exemplifies and epitomizes.Progress is only possible if we value each and every person and hold tight every member as our greatest asset. If we commit ourselves to fairness and opportunity for all, if we commit ourselves to a strong system of government at the National and state chapters. It is only possible if we are selfless and put our noble Guild back to work. These are the promises we must make to each other, these are the commitments that forge our mutual bond; when times are tough, when our pathway becomes hard to navigate, when forces block our way forward, when challenges stand in the way of our vision, when hope seems just outside our grip, this set of principles must guide our path. When people ask us, who we are. When people ask us, what we believe. When people ask us, what makes AGN Lagos thick and different? We will tell them we have a Road-map to the Future. We will tell them we re building, raising and mentoring a new breed without greed. We will tell them that AGN is a great BRAND that has been misdirected for too long by people who care only for their belly.Never, EVER let life push you to the wall. PUSH back

Good Bless Nigeria

AGN LAGOS CHAPTER WALK AGAINST PIRACY

One of the key activities designed to mark the 3rd annual Lagos Actors Week is the “Walk against Piracy” awareness parade by all actors under the auspices of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Lagos Chapter.

In a statement signed by its chairman, Don Pedro Aganbi said that the walk against piracy is an avenue to further create awareness about the evil and danger of piracy in the movie industry.

According to the AGN Lagos Chairman, Piracy is killing movie business and actors are the ones that suffer it. If the producers are not working there won’t be Jobs for us.  Indeed, piracy has been around long enough to cool down a little but that is not the case as we still have with us dodgy DVDs and increasingly, illegal downloads, cost the film industry massive amounts of revenue every year. Piracy  needs to stop, or at least be controlled  to prevent it from completely undermining the progress Nollywood has made over the years” The AGN Chairman"

Aganbi further said that the Walk against Piracy initiative is also an attempt to identify with genuine movie producers in the country. The event will kick off November 10 in Lagos the statement said.

AGN HOLDS CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP....

AGN LAGOS CHAPTER HOLDS CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP FOR NOLLYWOOD ACTORS.

Bearing any unforeseen, AGN Lagos Chapter under the leadership of Don Pedro Aganbi is set to hold a 2-day capacity building workshop for Nollywood actors from November 10 to 11, 2014 in Lagos.

Speaking to newsmen in Lagos, the AGN Lagos Chairman said that the theme” Excellence in Acting” was chosen to draw actor’s attention to the urgent need of the hour, excellence. “If you want to work consistently as an actor, you need to show directors and producers you can produce results in the allotted time period. Directors want good actors, they want talented actors, but most of all they want actors that can deliver every time with excellence. In fact, being an actor who can deliver with excellence is what makes you last in this industry and that is why efficient training and an efficient creative process are imperative to the success of today’s actor. We simply do not have time to waste” the AGN Lagos Chairman posited.

Aganbi remarked that the mediocrity, inefficiency and lack of verve from actors are partly caused by the uncertainty of what exactly constitutes the foundational skills of acting. To master any skill, training is a fundamental requirement and that is why this capacity building workshop has become a sine qua non for all actors resident in Lagos. The AGN Lagos Chairman noted.

*AGN LAGOS COMMENCES PRODUCTION OF TV SOAP OPERA*

Actors Guild of Nigeria under the Leadership of Don Pedro Aganbi has
commenced the production of a 52 weeks soap opera titled Theatre of Dreams

Speaking to Newsmen in Lagos, Don Pedro Aganbi, Chairman Actors Guild of
Nigeria Lagos State Chapter describeD the production of the soap as first
of its kind in the Guild.

According to him “This is the first time the Guild is producing a soap
opera and this production is 90 percent for the upcomers. It is a Soap
opera that is high on drama and plays on the very many different emotions
that lends credence to the Nigerian offerings. With skilful actors and
actresses, *“Theatre of Dreams”* is guaranteed to keep audiences asking
for more. One of its kinds".

Aganbi also said that the Nigerian media has been taken over by Mexican
and other South America originated soap operas. These soap operas speak of
foreign stories in pretty contemporary ways without relating anything about
the attitudes and dispositions of the Nigerian way of life. *Theatre of
Dreams* is here to change that and demonstrate that there is a definite
way of telling the Nigerian story using Nigerian motifs.

Using music, sports (football) and dance as an avenue of expression for
the young and absolutely twitchy, *“Theatre of Dreams”* plays on
ambitions for superstardom by the young ones and balances the scope with
the need for betterment through education.

Directed by Prince Ofondu and Supported by stellar crew of gaffers and
assistants, and enhanced with exquisite mood lighting, *“Theatre of
Dreams”* will surely deliver excitement and verve.

The soap features newly crowed Miss AGN-EKO winner Esther Kenneth, who is
playing the lead role, Ifedi Michael, Shedrack Itua, Charles Onwordi, and
other talented actors woven with veterans like Tony Akposheri, Temple
Ikeji, Tommy Oyewole among others

*“Theatre of Dreams” *has but one guarantee – solid technical quality
that will deliver the numbers from a discerning population to discerning
brands! More so it will arouse curiosity and invariably impact teeming
viewers in terms of total recall or retrospect. Don Pedro Aganbi posited
